In collaboration with the UWA Mediation Clinic

If you have previously completed an NMAS / AMDRAS course with UWA or PIMCA, and are nearing the end of your Accreditation period…

Required Practice hours, for Re-Accreditation, across the previous 2 years:

  • At least 20 hours of dispute resolution related practice (e.g., as a mediator, co-mediator, or third-party dispute resolver)

  • Note: ‘Practice’ as used here can include:

    • Up to five hours of intake and preparatory work to set up the dispute resolution process

    • Up to five hours of observing a more experienced practitioner

Required CPD hours, for Re-Accreditation, across the previous 2 years:

  • The continuing professional development (CPD) requirement for all levels of Registered Practitioners is 25 hours

  • To be allowable, the CPD must be directed at developing or maintaining the Professional Attributes

  • Completed record of Practice and CPD hours

  • Date of initial NMAS / AMDRAS training completion, and

  • Date(s) of previous re-accreditation (where applicable)

If you have not completed your Practice hours and / or CPD hours:

Please email the UWA Mediation Clinic ( mediation-clinic@uwa.edu.au ), and include:

  • Record of any hours of Practice or CPD undertaken

  • Date of initial NMAS / AMDRAS training completion, and

  • Date(s) of previous re-accreditation (where applicable)

The Mediation Clinic will be able to guide you as to the appropriateness of attending a Refresher & Reaccreditation 2-Day Workshop (see options below)

What is the Qualification?

The Australian Mediator and Dispute Resolution Accreditation Standard (AMDRAS) accreditation covers all relevant areas of mediation, excluding parenting matters related to family separation where a certificate to file in the Family Court may be required (these matters are mediated by registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners)

For eligibility to apply / re-apply to be an AMDRAS Accredited Mediator, and to be listed on the AMDRAS Board’s National Register, participants must have:

  1. Successfully completed the Certificate of Training (COT) and Certificate of Assessment (COA) requirements, and

  2. Meet the good character requirements, and

  3. Meet the indemnity insurance requirements under the Standards (see AMDRAS website):

Re-Accreditation with the UWA Mediation Clinic

As an AMDRAS Registered Accreditation Provider (RAP), the University of Western Australia administers and oversees all aspects of AMDRAS accreditation and re-accreditation for eligible mediators
